Work to tow a grounded tanker off Gülseren beach in Famagusta began yesterday morning.
An unladen tanker, the ‘Salim.N1 which had been lying offshore Famagusta port with two crew members on board since 2 December, dragged its anchor in heavy seas last week and ran aground on Gülseren beach.
Salvage crew had to wait until the weather improved to begin the rescue operation. The tanker began floating in the evening and was towed to Famagusta Harbour.
