A survey taken regarding favourite candidates for the 2020 Presidential Elections has shown that top choices are Ersin Tatar leader of the National Unity Party (UBP) and Kudret Ozersay head of the People’s Party (HP).
The survey organised by the HK Agency found that Tatar was in first place with 52.4% of the votes, while Ozersay came second with 50.7%.
In third place was leader of the Republican People’s Party (CTP) Tufan Erhurman with 48.7% and the current President, Mustafa Akinci in fourth place with 40.8%. Former Speaker of the Assembly Sibel Siber, despite no longer being active in politics, came fifth with 32.4%.
Around 600 people took part in the survey and were asked who would they vote for as President of the TRNC and to evaluate their preferences on a scale of 0-10.
The results showed that Akinci, Erhurman and Siber scored below 50% which leaves Tatar and Ozersay going on to the second round of the Presidential Elections.
