TCs suggest computerised system to process property claims

A computerised system to process property claims could be introduced to speed up the process. Reliable sources have said that the yet to be formed new Property Commission will be more easily be able to process claims, with the use of a specially formulated computer programme. The programme, suggested by the Turkish Cypriot side, will ensure that there are no lengthy waits for an outcome and decision-making time will also be shortened.

So far, the issue of property settlement in the Cyprus negotiations has been divided into 26 categories.

The new programme will comprise questions suggested by property and legal experts, and will be similar to a survey to determine the category of a property.

The same sources reported that up until now 26 property categories have been identified, however as the issue is still under discussion, more could be added.
