Tenders for Aplic and Derynia crossings open

The TRNC Foreign Ministry announced that tenders for the opening of Derynia and Aplic border crossing-points have been opened as of Wednesday.

According to the statement, the tenders were opened by the UN Development Programme. Works for opening the crossing-points must be carried out within two months.

The ministry’s information department reports that work on opening the Derynia and Aplic crossing-points within the framework of a series of CBMs agreed by the two leaders on 28th  May is continuing rapidly.

The statement said that the bi-communal technical working group carrying out work for the opening of the crossing points, had carried out the necessary technical inspections and work. It said that the infrastructural work that will allow the opening of the two crossing will be financed by the European Commission.

The UNDP which will be managing these funds as of today has launched the tender phase for the projects for areas within the TRNC leading to the crossing-points.”

The statement also said that the conditions of the tender and applications are available on the UNDP’s website.
