Test results for suspected MERS virus negative

The Ministry of Health has announced that the test results of the patients admitted to Nicosia State hospital suspected of having the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) virus have come back negative, Bayrak Television reports online.

Speaking at a press conference, the Health Ministry Undersecretary Dr Omer Gur said that none of the patients including the elderly woman, who showed the symptoms of MERS and died recently, are suffering from the MERS virus. “It is only an influenza infection”, said Gur and added that the ministry will continue to take measures against both the MERS virus and Ebola.
