Britain’s Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Theresa Villiers has said Turkey’s intention to carry out investigations for natural gas in [South] Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone violates its sovereign rights, which are recognised by international law, ‘Famagusta Gazette’ reports.
In an interview with London Greek Radio (LGR), the Conservative Party politician and MP for Chipping Barnet expressed concern over the situation, noting that Turkey’s provocative behaviour was unacceptable.
Villiers welcomed the statement made by the British Foreign Office expressing concern at these development, and pointed out that the British government had reacted immediately to this “invasion”.
