After the early general elections, work to create a coalition government continues.
Prime Minister Huseyin Ozgurgun and leader of the UBP, who was given the task of forming the government by President Mustafa Akinci, has discussed coalition with the CTP, TDP, DP and YDP.
Following which the DP and the YDP announced that they had “the green light to set up the government” with the UBP. However, Serdar Denktas, leader of the DP, which has been in talks for a coalition between either three or four of the parties, has not committed his party to either, as yet. So the DP is pivotal in what type of government will be formed. Dentktas’ party will meet this evening at 6pm to make a decision.
On the other hand, the CTP, DP, HP and TDP leaders have also stated that they have completed their coalition negotiations, that the result is positive and that the competent bodies will meet today to evaluate the result. They also insisted that, with the exception of the DP, they were not willing to form a coalition with the UBP.
The DP will meet tonight to make a decision on joining either with the CTP, HP and TDP, or a forming three-party coalition with UBP and HP.
