Three tourists remanded in custody after fatal stabbing in Ayia Napa

Three tourists from London who were involved in the fatal stabbing incident at a nightclub in Ayia Napa, appeared at Famagusta District Court  yesterday. The men, two Pakistanis and a Somalian, who had been brawling with off duty British soldiers, were remanded in custody for eight days pending further enquiries by police.

19 year old British serviceman, David Collins, died in the early hours of Sunday morning from a knife wound to the chest. He was serving with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.

The suspects were also found to be in possession of cannabis and after searching their hotel rooms, the police found a number of weapons including a knuckleduster and knives. They told police that these were gifts purchased for friends back at home.

If charged and found guilty, the men will face a life sentence in prison.
