The movement founded via social media by Kudret Ozersay called Toparlaniyoruz (“We are gathering”) has filed a lawsuit with the higher administration board for the appointment, in July, of the chairman of the civil defence organisation. They say that the appointment was not made by the TRNC authorities but under instructions from Turkey.
Stating that according to article 10 of the TRNC’s constitution, only the TRNC government has the authority to appoint the chairman of the TRNC’s central bank and the chairman of the civil defence organisation.
The movement described the appointment as illegal and contrary to the constitution.
