Two tourists worked all day clearing rubbish from Sirinyali beach.
The two men had gone to the beach in Karsiyaka for a swim. They arrived early in the morning but were greeted with a dirty and rubbish strewn beach.
They both set about clearing the beach all day, collecting rubbish in plastic bags that were floating in the sea. These were soon full of rubbish and glass.
The two men then had a well-earned swim and left with the plastic rubbish bags.
Many citizens saw their efforts and were shamed by their actions. They asked why the authorities were not carrying out their duties.
