The trial of the German estate agent Eva Isabella Künzel (49), who was arrested by the south Cyprus authorities on charges of acting as an intermediary for the sale of houses built in Esentepe in Germany, was postponed until October 2, Kibris Postasi reports.

Greek Cypriot daily ‘Haravgi’ and other newspapers wrote that the defence lawyer representing  the German real estate agent requested a one-week postponement in order to examine the indictment and witness documents received from the Prosecutor’s Office within the scope of the case heard yesterday at the Nicosia Greek Cypriot High Criminal Court.

Meanwhile, Greek Cypriot daily ‘Phileleftheros’  wrote that the first indictment against the German real estate agent included 56 charges, 22 of which were related to “22 Greek Cypriots who are the owners of the lands where the illegal construction was carried out and who are directly affected by this situation”.

According to the news, the first indictment also demands a seven-year prison sentence for the German real estate agent.

It was claimed that Künzel earned 169,150 euros from five sales made through the “Olive Tree” website.

The newspaper wrote that the Nicosia High Criminal Court postponed the case to October 2 upon request, and stated that Ms. Künzel will respond to the accusations through her lawyer, Sotiris Argiru, at the next hearing.

According to the report, the German real estate agent’s lawyer, Argiru, also expressed his intention to file a preliminary objection regarding the court’s jurisdiction and bias.

It was stated that Ms. Künzel will remain in custody until the hearing date of October 2.
