TRNC Celebrates 30 August Victory Day

North Cyprus News - 30 August Victory Day ParadeThe 30th of August Victory Day will be marked in the TRNC alongside Turkey.

This year marks the 96th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Dumlupinar, which was the final battle in the Turkish War of Independence led by the founder of modern Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

The celebrations will begin with the Commander of the Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces Lieutenant General Yilmaz Yildirim and the Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Derya Kanbay receiving well-wishers at the Cyprus Turkish Forces Regimental Command in the morning.

Two separate events will also be held in the capital Lefkoşa to mark the day.

The first will be a wreath-laying ceremony at the Atatürk Monument where President Mustafa Akıncı, Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Derya Kanbay and the Commander of the Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces Lieutenant General Yilmaz Yildirim will sign the special book.

The second event will take place in Nicosia will be the military parade at the Doctor Fazil Kucuk Boulevard

Meanwhile, similar ceremonies will also be held in Famagusta, Girne, Güzelyurt, Iskele and Lefke to mark the day.
