The new government has had its first call for help from the Citrus growers Association, who are suffering from a number of unresolved issues.
The most pressing one is that they have not yet been paid the TL 6 million owed to them by the state organisation Cypfruvex. This payment for fruit delivered has been outstanding since March.
More generic problems are that subsidies have not been raised in years, although the costs of production, including electricity, pesticides and fertilisers go up every year.
The Association claims that various governments have not kept their promises even though they make a major contribution to the economy.
