TRNC Republic Day Programme

The 34th anniversary of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is celebrated with ceremonies and events.

Celebrations for 15 November Republic Day will start with President Speech Mustafa Akıncı speaking on BRT today at 12.00 local time.

The late leaders of the Turkish Cypriot people will also be remembered on the Republic Day.

Republic of Turkey General Staff 2nd President General Ümit Dündar, Vice Chairman Ahmet Aydin representing the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Gazilerin will also be attending.

Meanwhile, groups of foreign parliamentarians and journalists are in the TRNC for the celebrations.

The ceremony in front of the bust of Dr. Fazıl Küçük’s at Kyrenia Gate will start at 15.00 today.

President Akıncı will also attend the ceremony where wreaths will be laid and a special visitor’s book will be signed.

The ceremony at the founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş’ Memorial Mausoleum will be held at the TMT Monument at 15.30, due to the construction of the monument.

At the ceremony where President Akıncı will be attending, a wreath will be laid and a memorial book will be signed.

On Republic Day, celebrations, sports events will be organised throughout the week.

President Mustafa Akıncı and his wife Meral Akıncı will give a reception at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Lefkoşa at 7pm tomorrow evening to mark the 34th anniversary of the TRNC.

The Turkish Armed Forces Solo Turkish Aerobatic Team will also visit Nicosia tomorrow. An official ceremony will be held in Fazıl Küçük Boulevard between 10.00-11.30 am and between 15.30-16.00 pm at the Girne Ataturk Memorial which will include a fly past.

Turkish navy TCG Gökçeada Frigate and TCG Burakreis Submarine will be open tomorrow between 09.30-12.00 and 14.00-16.30 at Kyrenia old harbour. TCG Imbat Tugumbotu will be at Famagusta Port.

Transportation to TCG Gökçeada will take provided by the Security Forces Command from Kyrenia old harbour.


Ceremonies are being held in the capital on 15 November- Republic Day.

A ceremony that will begin at 8.00am at Lefkoşa Martyrs Monument, where wreaths will be laid. The Declaration of Independence will be read and the National Anthem will be played.

A ceremony will be held at Lefkoşa Atatürk Monument starting at 9.30 am.

President Mustafa Akinci will attend the ceremony and a Private Memorial Book will be signed.
