Leader of the People’s Party (HP) Kudret Ozersay has said that he does not agree with the idea of annexing the TRNC with Turkey if there is no solution to the Cyprus problem. Ozersay said that the Turkish Cypriots are struggling so that they can administer their own state.
Speaking on ADA TV Channel, he evaluated the latest developments in the Cyprus negotiations.
Ozersay accused the Greek Cypriot side of trying to prolong the negotiations “like chewing gum”, adding that during the three-party meeting in New York, expectations were too high. He also noted that President Akinci had tried to damp down expectations when he warned that “people should not expect miracles”.
Referring to other issues Ozersay stated that his party regards the transfer of electricity from Turkey as a positive step.
