TRNC using delaying tactics diplomatic sources say

Hopes for a Cyprus settlement appear to be, once again, heading towards a brick wall with diplomatic sources suggesting that the Turkish Cypriot side is deploying delay tactics, Greek Cypriot daily ‘Phileleftheros’ reports.

The same sources also claim that Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu is also attempting to bolster the status of his regime in the “occupied” north of the island.

Nevertheless, President Eroglu sent President Anastasiades wishes for a speedy recovery on Sunday as Anastasiades struggled with a bout of gastroenteritis at a Nicosia clinic. Talks between the two leaders, scheduled for this morning, were postponed even though he is expected to be released from the clinic later today.

Anastasiades’ attendance at the EU summit on Thursday, however, still remains doubtful with doctors advising several more days of rest.
