TRNC Will Demand Direct Flights at International Courts

Prime Minister Ersin Tatar has said that all obstacles as regards the freedom of travel of the Turkish Cypriots should be lifted and direct flights to the TRNC should begin.

Addressing a ceremony at the Ministry of Economy and Energy for the ministry’s ‘2035 Vision’ project which aims for the TRNC to follow a plan for economic development, Tatar stated that, in the event that irrespective of any solution found in Cyprus, “the Turkish Cypriot people must be accepted as a separate state, separate administration and separate existence”.

He said the Turkish Cypriot people had great potential but were kept isolated from the rest of the world due to the embargoes.

He went on to say that the freedoms of the Turkish Cypriots have been violated for the last 45 years and added: “Perhaps today-tomorrow we will not receive any results from this but we will seek our rights in the international courts”.

He also added that the political developments in the Eastern Mediterranean are strengthening the TRNC which were also important for Turkey’s security.
