TRNC will survive with or without a settlement: Eroglu

President Dervis Eroglu has accused the Greek Cypriots side of running away from the negotiating table; adding that it was uncertain whether or not they would return, ‘Kibris Postasi’ reports.

“The Turkish Cypriot side will continue on their own way whether there is a settlement or not”, he said.

Addressing a dinner being held on the 41st anniversary of the establishment of the Families of War Veterans and Martyrs Association, Eroglu pointed out that the existence of the TRNC was their strongest power at the negotiating table. He maintained that the UN parameters allowed for an agreement for bi-communal bi-zonal communities comprising two equal founding states based on a federation.

In his speech Eroglu pointed to the fact that the Greek Cypriot side did not wish to share but wanted to treat the Turkish Cypriots as a minority.
