Turkey keen to press on with negotiations

The goal for the Cyprus negotiations is that they should be successfully completed by the end of 2016, Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu has said.

The Turkish FM who arrived on the island on Friday, added that in line with the objectives included in the Common Framework Document of 11 February 2014, a road map should be included in a five-party conference, as soon as possible.

Following today’s early morning meeting which he held with President Mustafa Akinci, who briefed him on the details of the deadlocked talks, he said that he had discussed points of issue with the TRNC government leaders and with political party members.

He said that he had discussed what would be the next steps with Akinci and political party members, who said they were in agreement.

We had always supported the negotiations,” Cavusoglu said. “We support this process. We think that a road map should be drawn up, that includes a five-party conference,” Cavusoglu said.
