Turkey has donated US$ 100 thousand to the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP).
The financial support provided by Turkey to the committee over the past eleven years has reached 909,500 Euros.
The Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Derya Kanbay received the Turkish Cypriot member of the CMP Gülden Plümer Küçük at his office yesterday and presented her the donation cheque.
Speaking there, Ambassador Kanbay said they had been following the works of the committee with interest and wished success to the committee in its work.
Mrs. Küçük for her part thanked the Turkish nation for their support.
Meanwhile, the Committee on Missing Persons issued a statement and thanked Turkey for the donation.
The statement said that the financial support provided by Turkey to the committee in 11 years has reached 909 thousand 500 hundred Euros.
A statement circulated by the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) on behalf of the CMP said that this donation will support the works of the Committee on Missing Persons towards excavation, identification and return of remains of missing persons which aimed at ending the pains that affected many families for many years.
The statement also added that the CMP has indentified and returned 870 missing persons to their families so far.
