Turkey’s 101st Republic Day Celebrations in North Cyprus

The Republic of Turkey is celebrating its 101st anniversary on October 29, marking its founding by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 1923 after the War of Independence. In North Cyprus, ceremonies and events will also be held to honour Republic Day.

The celebrations will begin with a speech by Turkey’s Ambassador to Nicosia, Yasin Ekrem Serim, on BRT, followed by a 21-gun salute. Official events will be hosted in various districts:

Nicosia: A ceremony will be held at the Atatürk Monument at 09:30, including wreath-laying, a moment of silence, and a procession in Dereboyu at 14:30.

Famagusta: Two ceremonies are planned—one at the Victory Monument at 11:00, and another at Namık Kemal Square at 11:45, featuring speeches, poetry, dance performances, and a concert by the Security Forces Band.

Kyrenia: Ceremonies will start at 14:00 at the Atatürk Monument with a procession at 15:00, concluding with a concert by the KTBK Regional Band Command.

Güzelyurt: Events at 09:30 will include wreath-laying, speeches, a dance show, and a procession following the ceremony.

İskele: The ceremony begins at 08:30 at Ecevit Square with music, speeches, and performances.

Lefke: Activities at 12:00 will include a procession and ceremony at the Atatürk Monument, followed by folk dances and a band concert.

Other Areas: Mehmetçik, Akdoğan, and Geçitkale will host similar events with ceremonies and patriotic performances.

Additional highlights include a concert by the Antakya Civilisations Choir in Kyrenia Amphitheatre on October 29 at 19:00 and various sports events, including badminton and taekwondo competitions.
