Turkey’s military presence does not contravene EU norms: Ozersay

Chairman of the People’s Party (HP) Kudret Ozersay, commented on social media on the recent statements made by the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. Tsipras stated that the “existence of foreign forces and guarantees in Cyprus is contrary to EU norms”.

Ozersay rejected the Greek PM’s statement and denied that the presence of foreign forces and guarantees contradicted EU norms.

He provided as examples the existence of American forces and bases on German soil and also the presence of UK bases and forces in Cyprus, and asked: “Are these foreign forces not considered as such? Or maybe when we refer to British forces, they are not considered as foreign forces”, Ozersay said.
