The Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Ali Murat Başçeri paid a visit to the new terminal building under construction at Ercan Airport.
During his visit, the Turkish ambassador said that the new terminal building will be very suitable for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and added that with the completion of the new terminal building, aviation will reach a new dimension in the country.
Explaining that investment in the development of the airport is very important, Ambassador Başçeri noted that the capacity of passengers and the airport itself will grow and therefore the services provided for the airplanes will double as well.
Noting that when the new airport terminal comes into service, wide-bodied aircraft will also be able to receive services at Ercan Airport, the Turkish Ambassador said that with the completion of the airport terminal most of the peoples’ complaints will be solved. The airport will be at the same level as modern airports in Cyprus in terms of passenger safety, flight safety and quality of service. At the end of construction, Ercan Airport will have a total of 30 aircraft parking spaces.
Touching up the fact that this is the first project that is being operated under the build operate transfer model, Ambassador Başçeri said “it must never be forgotten that this construction and its operation is being done thanks to the efforts of the public sector. A very special airport is being built here”.
He also thanked Prime Minister Tufan Erhürman and the ministries that are involved in the project for their efforts in overcoming the problems being experienced.
