The Association of Turkish Cypriots Abroad (ATCA) has called on the coalition government to grant them the right to vote, adding that they could be represented in the TRNC assembly with two or three deputies.
ATCA’s representative in the TRNC Kerem Hasan also condemned the recent statements of the British High Commissioner in Cyprus Mathew Kidd, who stated that “it would be dangerous if the TRNC is recognised”. Hasan said that the association had taken action in order to find out if these statements represent the position of the British Foreign Office. He added that the issue will be brought to the the House of Lords for debate.
“The island of Cyprus has two owners; two peoples who are politically equal and have the right of self-determination”, Hasan said.
