Turkish Cypriot taxis driver attacked at border crossing

A Turkish Cypriot taxi driver was attacked by two Greek Cypriots at the Metehan border crossing on Monday.

According to Turkish Cypriot daily ‘Diyalog’, the Greek Cypriots began swearing at taxi driver Ali Karapasa, dragged him out of his car and assaulted him.

Karapasa, who lodged a complaint with the south Cyprus police about the attack, told Diyalog that he has been conveying passengers across the border to and from the south, for the last 12 years and this is the first time such an incident had happened.

The paper notes that the attack took place at a time when the Cyprus talks were intensified.
