‘Turkish Cypriots are emigrating’: Talat warns

Former TRNC President, Mehmet Ali Talat, in response to the question about Turkish Cypriot migration, said that he understood that around twenty-five thousand Turkish Cypriots had left for south Cyprus and other countries.

Mr. Talat, speaking on ADA TV last night, pointed out that some time ago, the current Greek Cypriot Prime Minister Christofias had forecast that Turkish Cypriots would begin to migrate to the South and that the North would remain as a Turkish controlled territory.

In the meanwhile, south Cyprus faces its own financial crises with the threat of a general strike and unemployment figures rising to 14.7%; one of the largest increases in Europe.
