Turkish Cypriots getting 1.4m Euros worth of free electricity

Greek Cypriot daily newspaper ‘Alithia’ has reported that the “Cyprus Republic” provides 1.4 million Euros worth of free electricity annually for the Turkish Cypriot living in Pyla/Pile and Pergamo/Beyarmudu, ‘Kibris Postasi’ reports.

‘Alithia’ writes that the topic was discussed by the Greek Cypriot Parliament’s Board of Supervision.

The President of the Board of Directors of AİK (Cyprus Electricity Administration) Othanas Theodulou has said “The bills of the Turkish Cypriot users are being indirectly paid by everyone”.

According to ‘Alithia’ the general director of AİK Stelios Stilianou said that these costs are not reflected in the other users’ bills, “however it decreases AİK’s profit” Stilianou added.
