The Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Nazım Çavuşoğlu has said that the Turkish Cypriots had the right to trade under the Green Line Regulation, unhampered.
Board members of the Potato Growers’ Association led by Ahmet Yeşilada, visited the minister to express their concerns about recent events.
A protest was staged against a Greek Cypriot businessman by various groups in South Cyprus for importing potatoes from the TRNC.
Çavuşoğlu said that the ministry was doing all it could to protect potato production in the country, mainly through subsidies and incentives.
He also said that the concerns felt by potato producers regarding the latest incident in South Cyprus were justified, adding that the rights of the Turkish Cypriots stemming from the Green Line Regulation should be implemented without any impediment.
