Three men have been arrested at their Kyrenia hotel on suspicion of beating a man with sticks and threatening his life. Sahin Dogan went to the police claiming that he had been attacked by the three men who, he says, were sent to enforce payment of a 2 million TL debt to Sener Kucuk. He claims Kucuk hired the men, who arranged a meeting with him at his construction site on 24th July, where they then took him up six floors to the roof, bound him with tape, beat him and threatened to murder him and his family.
The suspects, who arrived from Turkey four days earlier, are now in custody. In Kyrenia court yesterday they denied the charges against them, claiming that they are business men currently in the TRNC to establish a chips factory. They did however acknowledge meeting Mr Dogan but say there was only a slight scuffle.
They were ordered by the judge to be held while police investigations continue.
