Turkish military jets hold search and rescue drill over Cyprus

According to Greek Cypriot news reports, five Turkish jets entered Cypriot airspace at around 10am on Wednesday morning, manoeuvred around Apostolos Andreas in Karpaz and around the southern coast of the island.

Reportedly they had alerted local aircraft that they were conducting a search and rescue drill.

The Air Traffic Control Tower in Kokkinotrimithia, stated that the Turkish jets flew down to Famagusta, following a course off the south coast of the island (some 30 miles it is estimated) before finally finishing just west of Paphos and then returned to Turkey.
