A group of Turkish MPs have demanded an investigation into the water project which transfers water from Turkey to North Cyprus.
Elif Dogan Turkmen (above), MP for the Republican People’s Party (CHP) is heading a group of 22 other MPs who are asking the Turkish Grand National Assembly to launch an investigation into the water transfer project.
According to a motion presented to the speaker of the Assembly, the MPs asked for an investigation into the 600 million dollars spent on the project’s infrastructure. In addition they want to know who will sell and distribute the water and about the ongoing disagreement between Turkey and the TRNC government on the issue.
So far, the Turkish Cypriots have been unable to benefit from the project, despite the great sum of money spent on it.
