Two High Ranking Officers Arrested Suspected of FETO Links

The former Commander of the Turkish Cypriot Peace Keeping Force Lieutenant General Ilyas Bozkurt Retired (main photo) and his former Chief of Staff Colonel Erdal Dodurga Retired, have been arrested for suspected ties to the Fethullah Terrorist Organisation (FETO).

Hizmet, a purportedly peaceful religious organisation led by self-exiled cleric Fethullah Gulen, has been branded as FETO, accused by Turkey of being behind the attempted coup in Turkey on 9 July 2016. There is no formal structure to Hizmet, rather it is a lose network that enjoys the support of millions world wide.

Both officers, who were serving at the time of the coup attempt, were brought under the spotlight following investigations by the Anti-Terrorism Branch of Ankara Police Headquarters.
