Two time zones in Cyprus confusing some locals

Two different time zones in Cyprus is creating confusion for some.

The south put back its clocks in line with Daylight Saving Time (DST), but the TRNC decided to remain in the same time zone as Turkey, which has not adjusted to DST.

Consequently, residents of the mixed community village of Pile (Pyla) which lies in the UN buffer zone, do not know which time zone to use.

Village Muhtar Necdet Ermetal, told Turkish Cypriot daily ‘Kibris’ that no-one knows what to do. Some villagers have observed DST and turned back their clocks, while others have not.

Suddenly, life for Turkish Cypriots who work in the Sovereign Base Areas and students who go to school in the south has become more complicated.
