Leader of the main opposition National Unity Party (UBP) Ersin Tatar has said that it is imperative for the Turkish Cypriot side to inform the United Nations that it wants to discuss a two-state solution.
Tatar said that the Turkish Cypriot side, which fully cooperates with Turkey must clarify the steps that it will be taking against the Greek Cypriot side’s intransigence.
Referring to the statement made by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu during his recent visit to North Cyprus, the opposition leader said the message was very clear. The Greek Cypriot side did not want to establish a joint partnership with the Turkish Cypriot side.
“What needs to be done is to meet as two separate states under the EU roof, which is the one thing we do agree on with the Greek Cypriot side and present our new thesis on cooperation to the UN and the EU”, said Tatar.
He said as the National Unity Party they were pleased with the messages given by the Turkish Foreign Minister during his visit to the country.
