As Crans Montana began its 6th day this morning, the UN rejected the Greek Cypriot side’s only proposal on the Security and guarantees package.
Greek Foreign Minister Nicos Kotzias spoke to reporters before heading into the meeting.
“We have prepared and tabled our proposals on the mechanism of monitoring the implementation of a settlement agreement, the withdrawal of troops and the abolition of Alliance and Guarantee Treaties”.
According to information given to ‘Kibris Postasi’, at the table 1 meeting, it was reported that the Greeks agreed that “we can see the proposal on security and guarantees first and then we present the other issues”. However, these proposals did not conform to the format prescribed by the UN.
Following this development, the ongoing meeting continued with the presentation of the UN’s written proposal and ended at 11 o’clock.
The Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot sides have offered package proposals regarding all chapters.
It is reported that these were evaluated by all parties.
