Turkish Minister of Forestry and Water Works Veysel Eroğlu has announced that work taking place to lay the underwater pipeline is continuing and that the installation of the pipeline at sea will begin next week, ‘Kibris Postasi’ reports.
He noted that for years the people in North Cyprus have suffered due to water shortages and with the laying of 107 kilometers of pipeline, 75 million cubic meters of water will flow to North Cyprus every year.
Explaining that within the framework of the North Cyprus Water Supply project, Turkey has completed the Alaköprü dam and in North Cyprus had completed the Geçitköy dam on time as promised.
President Eroğlu said that “the works in the open sea for the sea transit water distribution pipeline is speedily progressing. Next week the installation of the pipelines will begin and will be completed in 75 days”.
