Varosha could bring tax revenues to the TRNC

Independent presidential candidate Kudret Ozersay has said that if you want to be strong at the negotiating table, you need to have new rules to stop the arbitrary granting of citizenship.

Ozersay yesterday visited the Iskele region and a private shipyard at Famagusta port where he had a chance to chat with employees and workers there.

Ozersay spoke of his vision for the future of the TRNC and said if he was voted into office he would not only work for the Cyprus solution but take internal issues and problems more seriously and be an unbiased political leader.

Speaking about Varosha/Maras, Ozersay said that the fenced-off city should be opened under Turkish Cypriot administration. He said if former property owners in Varosha are given back their property, then taxes could be paid to the North and construction and other services could be procured from the TRNC. Not only would the economy in Famagusta be developed, but the TRNC economy in general would be enhanced.
