Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that the “the water from Turkey can be water for peace”.
Speaking on television and answering questions about the water pipeline project, which he inaugurated last weekend, Erdogan said that if the Greek Cypriots have difficulties with their water supply, they could have a share of the water from the pipeline project. However, he said that it was expected that the Greek Cypriots would reject the offer.
Reminding that the ambitious project had cost 1.6 billion lira, the Turkish President said that the TRNC will have potable water as well as water to use for agriculture because of this project.
