There will be a Whirling Dervish* Night in aid of Tulips at Bellapais Abbey on Sunday 7th September.
The Whirling Dervishes are performing for free and entrance to this event is only 10TL. Tickets are available at the Tulips Stall at Chateau Lambousa alternatively payment can be made on the night at Bellapais Abbey.
* The Order of the Whirling Dervishes is one branch of the vast Sufi tradition of Islam. There are various orders of Dervishes, almost all of which trace their origins from various Muslim saints and teachers.
The origin and roots of Sufism lie in the life and practices of the Prophet of Islam and the Qur’an. The universal values of love and service shared by all Sufis are very much relevant to the social and political realities of today, and this ritual is only performed by the Order of the Whirling Dervishes.
