Turkey’s second drillship ‘Yavuz’ will commence operations offshore Karpaz next week, Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Donmez has said.
He said that the drillship was stocking up with supplies and undergoing final checks in Mersin, southern Turkey before heading for the drilling site.
Donmez said that the ‘Yavuz’ would be conducting drilling operations off the north-east coast of Cyprus for the next three months. The ship will drill to a depth of 3,300 metres.
“We are not sure what we will find. This is the nature of this job. We surveyed that area in the past. We shall be making the results public in the period ahead. We hope we shall reach the result we desire,” he said.
