The 23rd East Mediterranean International Tourism & Travel Exhibition, EMITT, one of the largest and most prestigious fairs in the world, opened in Istanbul on Thursday.
Minister of Tourism and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu who is attending the fair said the TRNC was taking part in the EMITT Fair which was a window that opened to the world and allowed the TRNC to tap into the international tourism market.
The TRNC is being represented at the EMITT Fair which is being held between the 31 January and 3 February by a delegation made up of sector representatives headed by Minister Ataoğlu.
The Tourism and Environment Ministry which is participating in this year’s fair using the concept of the Girne shipwreck on display at the Girne Castle is expected to attract great attention.
The Minister of Tourism and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu delivered a speech at the fair which was inaugurated by the Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy.
In his speech, Ataoğlu stressed that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus with a 10 thousand year history, was a country which has many advantages.
Minister Ataoğlu also pointed out to the importance of tourism in the TRNC, adding that it was possible to go swimming 10 months of the year.
Stating that participating in such events had positive outcomes, Ataoğlu said that North Cyprus could offer all sorts of tourism services, adding that they will continue to focus on introducing alternative tourism models so as to attract more tourists from around the world.
Following the speeches the fair was inaugurated by the Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy who visited also the TRNC stand.
