Murder suspect Mohammed Salman, a Pakistani citizen, is living in a refugee camp in Larnaca, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kudret Özersay has said.
Özersay, made the following statement on his personal social media account:
The suspect of the murder of Hasan Işık Özgöçmen, one of our country’s artists, was captured by Greek Cypriot police after he fled to the Greek Cypriot side. According to information we received today, the suspect is housed in a refugee camp in Larnaca.
The Greek Cypriot side must now stop trying to protect suspects. At least we should be able to have meaningful cooperation on these issues. If we are sincere about building trust on this island, at least we should avoid all actions that mean protecting criminals in these cases.
