North Cyprus’ first red light camera has been installed at the roundabout near the Atatürk Sports Hall.
Red light camera (short for red light running camera) is a type of traffic enforcement camera that captures an image of a vehicle which has entered an intersection in spite of the traffic signal indicating red (during the red phase).
The camera which will also capture vehicles which violate lanes is expected to become operational as of the start of the new week.
If successful, other red light cameras are expected to be installed across the island in the future.
