President of the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority Employees Union (El-Sen), Ahmet Tuğcu, has repeated the union’s decision to disconnect electricity to Ercan Airport, operated by T&T Company which is managed by Emrullah Turanlı, due to a debt of 92 million TL owed to the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (Kib-Tek), Kibris Postasi reports. Tuğcu emphasised that Turanlı must settle at least 63 million TL immediately to avoid the cutoff.

In an interview with Kibris Postasi, Tuğcu affirmed their unwavering stance, stating, “We are determined to proceed with the electricity cutoff at Ercan Airport; our decision remains unchanged“.

Regarding a request for an extension by Turanlı’s CEO, Tuğcu noted, “They asked for more time until July 3, but we declined“. He added that despite previous extensions, they could reconsider if Turanlı provides a check guaranteeing payment of 63 million TL by July 3.

Two days ago, the head of (El-Sen), Ahmet Tuğcu, issued a statement addressed to the Kib-Tek management, pointing out that while people’s electricity is cut off when their debt reaches 675 TL, the electricity supplied to Ercan Airport, operated by T&T Company under the management of Emrullah Turanlı, has not been cut off despite a debt amounting to 92 million TL. Tuğcu said, “Stop the favouritism towards T&T Company at Ercan! If you don’t cut it off, we will on June 14th!

Addressing the Kib-Tek management, Tuğcu stated that during this period of increasingly harsh economic conditions, people’s electricity is cut off when their debt reaches 675 TL, but the 92 million TL electricity debt owed by Ercan Airport, operated by T&T Company under the management of Emrullah Turanlı, remains untouched.

He noted that they have been making calls for months about this issue, which have been ignored by the Kib-Tek management, and that they are giving a final warning to put an end to this unfairness, which has greatly upset the public.
