The General Directorate of Police will be at the public’s service 24 hours a day throughout the holiday. In a statement from the General Directorate of Police, it was emphasised that religious holidays, which have an indispensable importance in life, are exceptional days when social unity and solidarity are strengthened, and love, respect, tolerance, and hopes are revitalised.

The statement mentioned that the atmosphere of tolerance, peace, and brotherhood in all segments of society would also be effective in solving problems, adding, “As the General Directorate of Police, we have taken all necessary security measures to ensure that our citizens can spend Eid al-Adha in an environment of peace and security“.

Fire and Theft

In the statement, it was emphasised that measures should be taken against possible fires and thefts in homes and workplaces due to the long holiday period, stating:

When leaving your homes and workplaces, check your security systems, make sure the security camera system is active and working if there is one, and always lock doors and windows. Also, check electrical devices and plugs and take measures to prevent fires“.

Avoid Drink/Driving

In the statement, it was highlighted that traffic would be busy during the holiday period, and the following warnings were made:

To avoid endangering your own life and property and that of others, do not drive under the influence of alcohol and, if necessary, use transportation services.

We should completely disconnect from our mobile phones, which we never leave out of our hands at any time in our lives but cause traffic accidents by distracting attention while driving.

Do not forget that in serious traffic accidents involving heavy injuries and significant damage, ‘seat belts’ save lives”.

In the statement, which pointed to the rules specified in the Seat Belt Law, it was stated that it is prohibited to carry children under three years old in motor vehicles without a child seat. Children with a height between 135-150 cm must sit in the back seat of motor vehicles and wear a seat belt, while children shorter than 135 cm must sit in a child seat with a seat belt in the back seat. It was stated that children shorter than 150 cm are prohibited from sitting in the front seat of motor vehicles.

Keep to The Speed Limit

The statement emphasised that everyone travelling in motor vehicles must wear a seat belt, saying, “Do not drive fast. Your priority in traffic should not be speed, but reaching your destination safely and embracing your loved ones”. The statement reminded that it is mandatory for drivers and passengers of motorcycle-type vehicles (including three-wheeled motor vehicles, motorcycles, and ATVs) to wear “protective helmets” to ensure their safety, wishing the public a healthy, peaceful, and accident-free Eid al-Adha.
