A fire, which broke out in the hills lying between Altınova and Ağıllar villages in the Iskele region, has been brought under control, Kibris Postasi reports.
According to the Police Press Office, the fire that broke out on the hilly terrain between Altınova and Ağıllar village at 2.15 pm this afternoon was brought under control by the police, fire department, Forestry Department and Civil Defence teams and local people’s work vehicles from the land, and by the firefighting helicopter from the air.
According to initial findings, dry grass, crops, maquis vegetation and various pine, carob and olive trees in an area of approximately 900 acres were burned and damaged as a result of the fire.
Cooling efforts at the fire are ongoing.
