A woman who arrived from an EU country at Larnaca Airport was arrested on suspicion of promoting the sale of properties on Greek Cypriot land in North Cyprus, Kibris Postasi reports.

The Greek Cypriot police had issued an arrest warrant for her on charges of “conspiracy” and “money laundering”.

The woman is the second property promoter to be targeted, with an arrest warrant out for a German man living in the TRNC , who was meant to give testimony to police but failed to show.

Ten days ago, Kibris Postasi reported that the Greek Cypriot Police General Directorate has been conducting an investigation into a German citizen living in the TRNC regarding the exploitation and sale of Greek properties in the north.

Greek Cypriot daily Alithia wrote that Martin Josef Rikels, was notified that he was summoned to give a statement by the Greek Cypriot police at the “Agios Dometios” (Ay. Demet-Metehan) border checkpoint, and stated that the German person signed the summons and returned to the TRNC instead of going to the Greek Cypriot side.

The newspaper added that Rikels was expected to go to the General Directorate of Police to give a statement, “based on information obtained” by the Cyprus News Agency (KİPE).

According to Greek Cypriot daily Haravgi, that person in question was expected to go to the General Directorate of Police today to give a statement.

Rikels faces charges of illegally using and possessing land registered to others.
