According to the results of a survey conducted by the Centre for Migration, Identity and Rights Studies, CMIRS, in June 2019, Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci tops the list of preferred candidates for next year’s presidential election race, with a percentage of 33%, compared with the results of the survey conducted in March 2019, where Akinci had received 33.7%.
Meanwhile, Tufan Erhurman, former prime minister and leader of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) runs second with 16% up from 12.4% he had received on March. Kudret Ozersay, leader of the People’s Party (HP), deputy prime minister and foreign minister, polled at 11.4% compared with March where he received 9%. Also, Prime Minister Ersin Tatar runs fourth with 10.6% down from 14.2% he received in March. The leader of the Democratic Party (DP) Serdar Denktas and the leader of the Revival Settler’s Party (YDP) Erhan Arikli increased their percentages from (5% to 6.7% and from 1.2% to 2.2%), respectively.
