Support for re-electing President Mustafa Akinci in the 2020 presidential elections has increased, according to a survey conducted in North Cyprus by the Centre for Migration, Identity and Rights Studies (CMIRS).
The survey was conducted in March 2019 and according to this, 37.2% of the participants said that they would support President Mustafa Akinci.
Support for Akinci, according to a survey conducted by the same company in December 2018, was 31.92%.
The chairman of the National Unity Party (UBP) Ersin Tatar, ranks second with 14.2%, marking a decrease when compared with December 2018 when he received 20.6%.
Also, a decrease was recorded in support for the possible candidacy of Prime Minister Tufan Erhurman who received 12.4% compared with the 2018 survey where he received 16.3%. Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Kudret Ozersay’s support when down from 11.11% to 9%.
Minister of Finance Serdar Denktaş received 5%, down from 5.45% in the last survey and the chairman of the Revival Settler’s party (YDP) Erhan Arikli received 1.2%, down from 4.45% in 2018.
