The union explained that they requested more time to meet their demands, particularly concerning occupational health and safety. However, management declined to take responsibility for any work accidents that might occur until the missing safety materials were provided.
As a result, El-Sen, unwilling to work in unsafe conditions, announced they would go on strike starting tomorrow morning across all regional facilities and power plant maintenance workshops.
To avoid inconveniencing the public, it was clarified that operations in the power plants’ production areas and administrative sections like cash desks and planning will continue as usual.
Union President Ahmet Tuğcu will provide more details about the meeting and the strike plan at a press conference in front of the Nicosia Central Building at 9.30am on Monday.
